It will be a wet start to the weekend for Sydney with rainfall of up to 30 millimetres expected to fall on Friday afternoon and evening.
After a week of blue skies, the rain is expected to settle in for the rest of the weekend, bringing strong winds and possible hazardous surf conditions for the city's beaches before easing on Monday."The low pressure system causing all of this is tracking across from the north-west of the state, heading south-east today," Bureau of Meterology forecaster Gabrielle Woodhouse said.
"The feels-like temperature for the Western Slopes will be 3 degrees to minus 3 degrees today," Ms Woodhouse said. Damaging winds with an average speed of 60 to 70 km/h with peak gusts in excess of 90 km/h will begin in the Western Slopes and Riverina regions on Friday morning and will continue throughout the day.
A severe weather warning has been issued for the NSW South Coast and eastern parts of the Snowy Mountains and Southern Tablelands on Saturday, with concern about possible minor riverine flooding along the Shoalhaven River and St Georges Basin and moderate flooding along the Moruya and Bega rivers.
