Scott Morrison announces a funding boost to Australia's aerial firefighting centre after former fire and emergency leaders said they had tried for months to warn him more water-bombers would be needed to tackle bushfires this season.

Australia's aerial firefighting centre has been given an $11 million boost, nearly doubling the Commonwealth's annual contribution to its capability.Former fire and emergency leaders last month said they had tried to warn the PM more water-bombers would be needed this bushfire season

"We're backing our firefighters and our water bombing fleet with an extra $11 million boost," Mr Morrison said. "Each bushfire season we take the advice of the states and experts about what we can do to keep Australians safe. As we continue into this hot and dry bushfire season we want to ensure our fireys get the aerial support they need and have asked for."

The government hands out 13.6 million dollars a day in franking credits.

How about Aerial fire fighting given $11m as leases on some aircraft to expire in Dec/Jan

For the morons complaining about the amount, that is the YEARLY additional contribution. This is a significant boost to their ability to lease aircraft and other equipment or services each fire season.

And what about the firefighters on the ground still no help PM DeafGovernment rrrrrrrholes

TheRealKerryG What will $11mil do? This govt is disgusting. Every day crews are calling for air support & being told they're already stretched to capacity. It couldn't be more obvious that RFS bosses are being threatened with consequences to force them to lie that everything's fine

One LAT costs around $23M. This is such a cruel and controlling government. The fire emergency is being treated like the unwanted child who is abused, neglected, ignored and given crumbs.

$247 million for school chaplains.

We need to take $250,000,000 from the ABC budget, to be used on a national campaign on 'Why Arson is wrong' And why the national broadcaster really should know better than to incite & encourage arson by inviting guests on to their programs with serious anarchy issues.

you are kidding , Xmas Island cost 130 million to re open for no Reason , need 10 time s that amount , & use of Airforce , Army Air & Ground Capability

Wouldn't have needed it if it wasn't illegal to dig a fire break around your property 😉

What 11 Mill , 150 Mil was used to open Xmas Island for no reason , FFFFFFFF SAKE

Australia has a 'water management problem' | Sky News AustraliaSky News host Peta Credlin says drought-ending floods 'invariably show' Australia 'doesn't have a water problem' but rather 'a water management problem'.\n\n'The government can't make it rain but it can make it rain money and that's what it's been trying to do to palliate the effect of the drought,' she said. \n\nMs Credlin said according to Water Minister David Littleproud the federal government has made available 'the significant amount of $224,000 dollars per farmer per year' via income support payments and loan subsidies. \n\n'This is where the states are meant to partner with the Commonwealth - given fodder support and freight is in their direct area of responsibility.\n\n'But like with most things that matter, who does what is a dog's breakfast of divided responsibilities and too often the states short-change the payments they're supposed to make and play the blame game'.\n\nImage: News Corp Australia\n Maybe Peta needs to talk to AngusTaylorMP about water management.
