Mim Portlock, 73, woke in excruciating pain and unable to walk last night due to a flare-up of her rheumatoid arthritis.Mim Portlock was forced to wait almost six hours for an ambulance in Adelaide."I didn't think I'd ever be in that situation, it was horrible." Her son Nathan called Triple Zero about 12.30am, and was told an ambulance would be coming but that they were a low-priority case.She woke up unable to move and in deep pain.Emergency services called Nathan back about 3.30am to tell him they were completely overwhelmed and there would be a further wait of several hours.

At 5.53am, Mim's case was upgraded to priority two, and a crew left immediately, arriving at her home in the north-east at 6.06am.She said ambulances needed better resources.
