Climate change protesters from Blockade Australia kicked things off about 8am today at Hyde Park, despite police raids last week.
Police say they will be monitoring the situation and won't hesitate to make arrests when they believe protesters are breaking the law. This will be followed on Tuesday by train drivers, who will begin four days of industrial action by refusing to drive faster than 60km/hr. By Friday, drivers will refuse to operate foreign-built trains, taking a large proportion of Sydney's rail fleet out of action.
Rail unions say the government is not listening to safety concerns about the trains drivers are expected to operate.
