Climate activist Greta Thunberg to feature on Swedish stamps

Swedish teenage environmental activist Greta Thunberg appears on a postal stamp in her native Sweden that is part of a series focusing on the environment. The stamps go on sale from PostNord on Thursday, Sweden time, and show Thunberg in her familiar yellow raincoat standing on a rocky coast looking out at a flock of birds.

"We hope that, as a big company, we can shine a light on the very important climate question, with the help of a little stamp," said Kristina Olofsdotter, head of PostNord's stamp division.Several million of the stamps will be issued, Olofsdotter said, adding: "There will be a lot of Gretas flying around."

Thunberg, who turned 18 on January 3, rose to global fame in 2018 after she began skipping school to protest, alone with a homemade sign, outside the Swedish Parliament in Stockholm, demanding that her government take action on climate change. Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg attends a Fridays For Future protest outside the Swedish Parliament in Stockholm in October.Within months, more than 2 million students in 135 countries had set up their own picket lines, joining Thunberg's "School strike for the climate" campaign.- but not plane - to demand action on climate change, a trip that involved a brush with US President Donald Trump and a speech at the United Nations climate summit.

Thunberg's movement, Fridays for Future, approved of the image on the stamp but played no part in its design, Olofsdotter said.Other stamps in the collection have an environmental theme, including depictions of Swedish mountains, lakes and forests.

I really don't want to lick her stamp!

That's a sweet design. Well deserved, GretaThunberg.

While you all crying about climate, 2 million lives lost to China virus

Is she 'still a thing'.... I thought we sensibly moved on.

Will it be child abuse when their Post Offices cancels the used stamp?

Professor Lindzen argued that believing climate change is largely caused by increases in carbon dioxide is “pretty close to believing in magic.” BillSparow1 Twitter: And they put this DH Greta on a Stamp?

So it's confirmed; the back of her head is sticky! I wonder how much CO2 is created by manufacturing of the stamps and envelopes and the sending of mail!?!?

A hero

Brilliant great recognition for such a great contribution to the world environment
