The new Labor leader Jodi McKay says she will lead a party with a "very big heart" after her historic win gives NSW a female Premier and Opposition Leader for the first time.
Ms McKay said Labor would turn its focus to people, especially those living in country NSW as well as western Sydney and multicultural communities."We will be a very big tent with a very, very big heart," Ms McKay said on Sunday in her first press conference as Opposition Leader. With Father James Collins from St Pauls' Anglican Church in Burwood by her side, Ms McKay said she was often forced to turn to him to help her find accommodation for her constituents.
But she said she was convinced that her caucus colleagues, including those who did not vote for her, would now unite to take on the Berejiklian government at the next election.
