The 'mammoth task' of kerbside collection and emptying large temporary waste sites is underway across Brisbane, its Lord Mayor says, and it will continue until the flood-damaged debris is all gone.

More than 3,000 flood-affected Brisbane streets are waiting for kerbside collection a week after floods rushed through south-east Queensland.Council has temporary tip sites across the city where trucks dump waste rather than travelling to transfer centres with each loadHe said standing down the Mud Army removed a liability risk for council and a safety risk for its volunteers

The Lord Mayor said the time frame for flooded streets to be visited by council's kerbside collection teams "continued to evolve" as council teams had to revisit streets multiple times while residents continued clearing out damaged homes. To speed up the process, the council has allocated temporary tip sites across the city where trucks can dump the waste, rather than travelling to one of the waste transfer centres with each load.

But experts say a few factors could lead to a quick recovery. Yeah of course let’s worry about that while bodies are still being found in floodwaters. WHERE’S THE STORY ON FLOODED COMMUNITIES SAVING THEMSELVES.? You people that are trying to destroy my ABC better think again. We will have our national broadcaster back. 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 Oh yeah lets just investigate how bad the real estate sector if affected by the floods ... There is good potential in upgrading housing to be flood resistant. It can be done in 2 modes. No significant damage if flooded apart from furnishing. No significant water entry. It was done for cyclones and bushfires
