He was taken to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition on Monday night. NSW Police confirmed on Tuesday morning that he had died.

Police said the 40-year-old was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to hospital.

“Officers from Burwood PAC have established a crime scene and commenced inquiries,” a NSW Police spokesperson said.

Police were seen cordoning off the Rhodes Central building, which includes a shopping centre, apartments and basement car park.

Officers taped off an entrance to the lifts inside the building and near McDonald’s Rhodes.

It is understood he was shot up to 10 times, including in his head.

Police are investigating a car that was torched nearby, but it is not yet known whether the two incidents are connected.

A heavy police presence was at the site on Monday evening, with officers seen congregating around a lift in the building.

Confronting video footage shows a man bleeding and heavily bandaged as he is wheeled out of the building.

Police believe it was a targeted attack and have called for any witnesses or anyone with dash cam footage to contact them.

Nazlioglu was accused of being one of the balaclava-clad gunmen who killed Comanchero boss Mick Hawi, but was found not guilty in the NSW Supreme Court in 2020.

Hawi was shot multiple times after getting into his Mercedes in the car park of Fitness First in Rockdale in February 2018.

The Crown alleged at the time that he and Nazlioglu were friends before a falling out.
