As the shots were fired, the children were seen running and crawling towards a carer.

Photos from inside the centre show bullet holes in the wall, near where the children had been playing.

Ibrahem Hamze also faces charges of large commercial drug supply, and directing the activities of a criminal group, among others.

Hamze is the cousin of Mejid Hamzy who was gunned down outside his southwest Sydney home in Condell Park in October 2020.

His killing is believed to be connected to the continuing feud between the Alameddine and Hamzy crime families, with several members from the latter clan executed in recent months.

A grey Toyota RAV4, believed to be used in Hamzy’s murder, was found burned out in a nearby street.

Hamze has also been charged alongside Haissam Hamzy, 27, and Tareek Hamzy, 24, and four others for allegedly detaining and stabbing a man in Sydney’s west last year.

The Hamzys are also family members of deceased Mejid Hamzy, NSW Police confirmed with AAP.

The 24-year-old victim was walking in Merrylands when he was assaulted by five men who forced him into a white Toyota van parked nearby, police say.

He was allegedly driven to a vacant unit in Auburn and held captive for several hours, before he was found in Birrong with a stab wound to his shoulder and taken to hospital.

Two men were arrested following the incident and refused bail to appear before Fairfield Local Court on February 17.

Following further investigations police have charged another five men, including Hamze, who are all due before Parramatta Bail Court on Wednesday.
