A teacher has been arrested in Sydney over the alleged historical sexual abuse of three male students over 40 years ago.
The 67-year-old woman was arrested at a home in St Ives in Sydney's Upper North Shore at 8am this morning after an investigation was launched by NSW Police in May.
Strike Force Sportsground was established to investigate allegations of sexual abuse by a teacher from 1977-1980.
Police allege three schoolboys - then aged 13, 14 and 15 - were sexually assaulted.
"What I can say is the investigation by Strikeforce Sportsground is ongoing and we urge anyone with any information to come forward," Superintendent Tim Beattie said today.
He alleged there had been "a number of sexual assaults that occurred" over a three-year period.
"Anyone in a position of authority over a child … rest assured that police will investigate those matters and take them quite seriously, and school should be place of safety for all children."
The woman has been taken to Hornsby Police Station where she is expected to be charged.
